Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, business owners are required to ensure that escape routes within their premises are properly illuminated with emergency lighting to enable safe evacuation in the event of a power outage.
External escape routes must also be lit, particularly in areas with limited natural light, such as the rear and sides of buildings.
